The CC's Holiday Office Party Look

Some time back before the holidays I was thinking to myself as I often do, about fashion.  Wait...stop laughing, I'm not always thinking about fashion or shopping in SL!  Anyway, I was thinking:  "What would the CC wear if she had a holiday office party to attend."  I had an outfit in mind, but didn't take any pictures or anything, being lazy, unmotivated to blog and without a lot of time.

But... I follow a few RL fashion blogs, One in particular is Fashion Apocalypse, which is the blog of my favorite curvy fashion blogger, who calls herself "The Lapsed Victorian".  I tend to like what "Lapsy" likes.  She likes the vintage influences, worships Christina Hendricks, and dresses WELL.

Well anyway, a couple of days ago she posted her Christmas day Outfit of the Day which was, "On Fleek", as the kids say these days on their Facingbooks, Tinterests and Pumblr's.  If you follow that link you can see that it's a lovely red dress with vintage influences, ballet neckline and slightly below the knee hemline.  She accesorized it with a nice bag, patterned hosiery and nice shoes.  I LOVED EET!  It reminded me so much of the outfit I was thinking of for "CC" that I decided to post the outfit.  It also reminded me of an outfit I was thinking of for a character in a story that was writing in my head.

Anyway here's the look, taken with shadows, depth of field and whatnot:

That's the Fame dress from Molichino.  Molichino shut down so it's not available anymore sad to say.  But I love this dress and should have shown it on the blog sooner.  It's in my flickr, but not the blog, but I would have sworn that I blogged it, but I guess I didn't.  But it doesn't matter because you can't get it anymore. Sadface, because it works well over the Maitreya Lara body.  The clutch is from CoCo

The hair is Wasabi Pills Jamie, which I wore because it reminded me of "Lapsy's" hair a nice layered mid-length. Jewelry is the Michelle set from Yummy.  Skin is my usual League Erin and eyes are my usual IKON Charmed Eyes in Moor.

The shoes and hosiery I picked up for the look today. I was going to wear my Izzie's tights, but the patterned tights don't have Maitreya appliers.  So I looked on market place for something like the dotted faux-fishnet Lapsy was wearing and found these Polka Tights from The Secret Store, which are perfect for adding a bit of interest to the leg.

The shoes are the Mutresse Volena Spectator style pumps, worn with the SLink High feet, but I'm wearing them with all black options set.

Here's a studio shot of the look.

It might not be surprising but I thought about doing a "do's and don'ts" of Holiday Party dressing post last year using RL as a basis for the choices.  One of the pictures I took then is also a good holiday party look.  It's a bit more formal.  You wouldn't wear this one to an office party, unless it was held at a hotel ballroom or something.  This is more a "Dressy holiday party where there will be dancing" look:

The dress is the PurpleMoon Maureen from a couple of years ago. It's vintage inspired with a sort of 50's look to it, but it's classic enough one could wear it to a modern party. It's a nice dress but doesn't play well with mesh bodies sad to say.  I'd kill for an updated version.  I wore it with Truth Mayim hair, and Essenz Zurich pumps.  I do believe that's the same Michelle pearl set from Yummy.  I was wearing Belleza skin back then, of course.

Anyway there you have two nice holiday looks.  Which would work rather well for Valentines Day outfits as well!

White Armory Andraste, Elf-y style

Imagine if you will, a redhead obsessed fashionista visiting the page of the Blogging Elf Arica Storaro to see what lovely fantasy, roleplay and non-fantasy items repurposed for fantasy roleplay items she is wearing.  Because after all, she is an Adorable Redheaded Elf who Shops... a LOT.

Then imagine you see something like this recreation of a non-redheaded Elf, which while very pretty, is NOT redheaded and your whole worldview of Adorable Redheaded Elves who Shop collapses.

The CC as a Blonde Elf Archer

It made the CC cry......Not really, of course. I'm joking.  The Blogging Elf looks good as a blonde too, has been blonde for months, and as everyone knows even redhead obsessed moi goes blonde now and then.  But there is just ....something... about a redheaded elf, and if the Blogging Elf ever goes back to red.....I will SQUEE.  Until then... well I have ears, and a bow and on rare ocassions do fantasy looks.

The CC as a proper redheaded elf-y archer.

In actual truth this blog post was inspired by seeing the White Armory Andraste set and thinking it was "Blogging Elf-y".  Though with that name it's obviously "Dragon Age-y", meaning Dragon Age the game. (No, I don't have Dragon Age: Inquisition yet)  Anyway, I can't remember where I saw it, but I finally figured out it was from White Armory (which is familiar to me) and picked it up.   My guess is that it's based on a template, since it looks somewhat familiar, and I know that White Armory has other template based items.  That said, they DO skillfully texture their template items, so even if you DO see the same templates somewhere else, you might want to pick up the White Armory versions as well.

Then I decided I needed some armor/bracers of some kind and boots.  As not-coincidence would have it, White Armory puts styling info in their packaging so you can easily find what they accessorized it with in the displays.  Which is a GREAT idea with cross-marketing potential that more designers should do.

In this case it was the Lassitude & Ennui Thylacine boots, and the Iktharus Bracers/Cuffs/Collar in Brimstone from Plastik.  I've been a L&E fan for years, and know Jackal Ennui does good work so ran right over to look at the boots and pick them up.   The Iktharus armor set comes in a LOT more colors, but I liked the Brimstone the best and it goes best with the Andraste

The Bow and Quiver are the PFC Black Sorrow, which I've shown before.  I'm rather liking this picture of me relaxing against a large tree root.  Peaceful and Sylvan.

The hair is Wasabi Pills Sandy, a hair that The Blogging Elf  wore in March reminded me of it.  Eyes are the IKON Deadshine eyes in Moor. Skin is my usual Belleza Betty.  Ears are from Siyu Suen's Illusions.

The Big Trope! My entry into Harper Ganesvoort's Oscar Contest 2015.

Hi folks I'm "Jean Eberhardt", everyone's favorite non-existent SL reviewer of non-existent SL films.  Today I'm going to be talking about that talk of the grid, the low budget homage to B-Movie Noir and Adventure Films... The Big Trope.

The Story of the Big Trope starts with a Science Exhibition where a somewhat Mad Scientist unveils his newest invention:  The Macguffin Device.  We're not exactly told what it does, but apparently it does something because Millionaire Philantropist Kradox Durxok seems to be very interested in it, and with a name like that...he probably isn't a philanthropist.  This is when we first meet his lovely assistant Radclyffe Beaverton who steals the scene by flirting shamelessly with the Mad Scientist's Beautiful, but Hollywood Homely Daughter. (She wears glasses and librarian clothes and looks delicious.) And then when the Beautiful Daughter's Boyfriend Protagonist protests, tells him to lighten up and points out HER comradette-in-arms and Innamorata, Brinksy Corgi, as played by the inestimable Charlemagne Allen.  I'm glad the screenwriter didn't Hide Your Lesbians.

Cue a gloomy scene at the Lynden Lab building, where the Macguffin is housed, and we see Radclyffe and Brinksy fly up in a hover car that is made of the Rule of Cool.  They then proceed to steal the Macguffin, putting the sole human guard, a woman, to sleep with a drug laced kiss, and then having a waif-fu and gun-kata firefight with Lynden Lab's Mekka-Mole security robots on the way out after intentionally tripping the alarm...just so they could have a little fun. And they did all this in short skirts, stockings and stiletto heels with a sort of Sky Captain meets Stewardess meets Elvgren slash Vargas pinup sort of look.

Outfits from R2, Stockings from Blacklace, Heels from Hucci, Hair from Wasabi Pills.

As you can see, the film was shot in black and white in the classic Academy 1.375:1 ratio as an homage to the old days.

We then see Radclyffe and Brinksy hand over the Macguffin to the Big Bad.  They are then berated for not killing the guard, which causes them both to frown, and then are sent to acquire the Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter...they're told she has the secret to actually activating it. After they leave, The Big Bad tells his snivelling weasely junior lackey Peter Leech that she actually knows nothing and will be a hostage to secure her Mad Scientist father's cooperation in unleashing the Macguffin's full power, and that he believes that Radclyffe and Brinksy will do a High Heel/Face turn the moment they realize this since they believe he's a Well Intentioned Extremist whose goal is to Save the World from Itself, and that Leech is to kill them and take their place as his Dragon when he.... Kradox Durxok, rules the World as it's God-King with the Power of the Macguffin.

They then capture her at the University Library, where she puts up quite a fight before they subdue her.  They're so impressed with her spunk that they fly her to Paris for the sole purpose of getting her a glamourous makeover before they take her to the Big Bad.  They get her cooperation by telling her that they work for Kradox Durxok, whom she only knows as a philanthropist, and that on their honor no harm will come to her.  After the makeover, where they turn her into a Taylor Swift meets Mamie Van Doren Blonde Bombshell, they take her to the Big Bad.

Once they deliver her, the Big Bad desires her for her own and declares that the Beautiful Daughter will be his Queen.  She says "never" and then the Big Bad strikes her with the power of the Macguffin, brainwashing her into obedience and give the command to Leech and the Daughter to kill Radclyffe and Brinksy.  This, of course, crosses Radclyffe's and Brinksy's Moral Event Horizon and they do an immediate High Heel/Face Turn.

It turns out they are also Genre Savvy and immediately flee in a jet powered airship and rendezvous with the Boyfriend Protagonist who is on his own airship coming to rescue the Beautiful Daughter.  They tell him of her brainwashing and provide cover fire to the Boyfriend Protagonist in the air while he rescues the Beautiful Daughter, retrieves the Macguffin, defeats the Big Bad and Saves the World.  Their airship is sadly shot down by Leech's just before The Boyfriend Protagonist shoots down Leech's airship.

At first I thought the screenwriter had fallen into a Bury Your Gays trap, but then we cut to first a Medals for Everyone ceremony for the Boyfriend Protagonist and Mad Scientist, followed by a wedding between the Boyfriend Protagonist and the Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter.  There, as her bridesmaids, are Radclyffe and Brinksy who jointly catch the bouquet at the end.

As it is, CC and Charlemagne were, in an  unprecedented move, nominated for joint award for Best Supporting Actresses in a Non-Existant Virtual Film.  Which makes perfect sense, since they're the best thing in the film. It's why I've been focusing on them and not everything else in this modern-day B-picture. The Boyfriend's actor is dull, the Ingenue they got playing the Beautiful Daughter can't even pronounce Tesla properly, and the Big Bad hams it up more than Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, Gary Oldham and BRIAN BLESSED.....combined...in a ham canning facility...which is just too much ham

Late breaking news...we have a paparazzi shot of CC and Charlemagne's Award show outfits for Harper Ganesvoorts Oscar Fashion contest 2015:

Knockers gertie dress.

After doing my entry into Berry's school yearbook meme, I began looking around the other entries and saw a vintage inspired photo by one Georgia Florence Sipe (lilaskyheart Resident), who was a redhead.  As I do like vintage and vintage loving redheads in particular, I checked out her flickr and saw a dress...THIS DRESS, from a store I had not heard of before called KnocKeRs.  I just had to have it.

It has cleavage, it is vintage, and it's so "me". This, like most 50's styles, is a descendant of Dior's famous New Look silhouette from 1947, wasp waisted and full skirted.  You can see hints of the common 50's shirt dress especially in the sleeve, though this is no June Cleaver style shirt dress, not with this much va-va-voom.  Those are the classic Yummy Michelle single strand pearl necklace and earrings you see, and Wasabi Pills Veronica hair.  I just love the little cherry bodice inset and the cute little buttons.

Here we see the full skirt and the cute cherry panel. The easiest way to tell this is a 50's dress and not an actual New Look dress is by the hemline.  New Look dresses have longer hems to the lower calf.  You can also see the Essenz Zurich pumps, which were perfect for this dress.

I happened to get a very good shot while sitting in one of the Duchess booth's.  This is one of the prettiest shots I've ever taken of my avatar. I'm pretty, whee!

The dress is VERY inexpensive, L$150...I bought two, red and black. I'll probably get the green too.

Berry's SL Yearbook Smile Challenge

As I say, Berry Makes Me Blog, this time with a Yearbook style picture theme for her Monday Meme.   I imagine this is how "Ms. CC" would have looked in High School.  This is the kind of girl I wanted to be like when I was young. Preppy-feminine.  I'd have killed to look like this then.

Sweater from Fashionably Dead, Skirt from Jane, tights from Izzie's, Flats from Ingenue, Glasses from Seburo, Hair is Sandy from Wasabi Pills, Skin is Pink Fuel Harley with the Rose lipstick (mouth version).  I went with Pink Fuel because I look younger with it.

I'd have preferred a classic black loafer but couldn't find a good one. Here's a full length shot of the outfit.

Junbug Naomi gown, guest starring Charlemagne.

Charlemagne and I dance together, quite a bit.  Well, actually the avatars do the dancing, we spend the time chatting. That means I need pretty formal gowns and lots of dresses for dancing with the Charl.  Mostly, we wear red and black, a LOT of red and black.  If I'm wearing black, she's probably in red, if I'm in red, she's probably in black.  The one constant seems to be corsets and cleavage.

And really nice hairdos and jewelry.  Lets just say, we were the best dressed couple at this ballroom.  Which is as it should be.

This is Truth Devinna hair, a very grand updo.  The jewelry is the Breakfast at Tiffany's inspired "Audrey" necklace from Caroline Apollo, which suits this gown well.   Skin is my usual Belleza Betty.  Charl provided this style card:

Belleza Mya 5
Slink hands and feet
Junbug Rosamarie Corset and Skirt Crimson-- Gacha
Emo-tions Cecile necklace and earrings
Wasabi Pills Momo
Lassitude and Ennui's Bound Sandals

Smooching Charlemagne's hand.  And admiring the corset bodice on that red gown.   Mmmm, paleness.  Charl actually makes me look a touch "tanned" in comparison. Her gown is so delectable it makes me think naughty thoughts...about actually using a Gacha.  Why are you looking at me like that, what other naughty thoughts could I be thinking of.

I was wearing THIS junbug gown, Naomi.  When I saw this, at November Fameshed.  I said to myself "I need that for dancing with Charl, but it's Junbug so it might not work well for me."  I've had issues with Junbug fitting before, but this one worked fairly well for me. This one has ruffles on the bodice and front clasps on the corset bodice.  Mmmm, corset.   As an aside, I find Fameshed and Uber to be more tolerable shopping experiences than most other monthly events. (Cough, C88.)   Wasabi pills Jamie hair.

As well as tight lacing and a bit of a bustle effect in the back.  Baby got Bustle.  Yeah the thing is mesh so it doesn't "move" like the old flexi's did, which is sad, but what can we do other than buy the few hybrid gowns out there.  It IS a nice gown, or I wouldn't have bought it.  Well worth picking up if it's your style.

I also have it Red.  Which is probably more gorgeous than the black is, it comes in more colors, but I only have the red and black...so far.  You know how I am about that sort of thing.

Ran into Barely Texan...put on a Kunglers dress.

Ran into Barely Texan, the male fashionista who had guested on Harper Beresford's blog, and noted DJ, at a social venue.   Just for fun I wore an dress and hair that Harper had blogged and took a picture next to him.  I then realized I had never blogged this dress myself.

Details on the dress and hair in this post by Harper Beresford

This simply pretty and classic dress is the "Ariana" mesh sleeveless sheath from Kunglers.  Note that the hemline is slightly below the knee, some don't prefer that hemline, though it's one of my preferred hemlines along side mid-knee and slightly above the knee. This a great desk-to-dinner dress, perfect for standing beside an AFK hipster-ish male fashionista with oversized glasses,  and having him make me look good.  Which is his job, making whatever lady fashionista he's standing near look good, not the other way around.  That would go against the natural order of all things Fashionista.  Then there would be chaos, we can't have that.

The hair is "Alicia" from Wasabi pills.  I am wearing it with my usual Belleza "Betty" skin, and Celoe's "Zoe" pumps.

Jewelry is the Bijou Othello set from Sax Shepherd, which is one of my go-to sets and I have the Bijou in all the colors.  With this set you have your choice of two earring colors, black or white and it comes with matinee and princess necklaces.  I'm wearing the matinee length in the photo.
